The RC Racer[1] was released in 1998 as part of the Racers theme in the limited Radio Control line of sets. This minifigure is in new condition and is located in 1998 | Box 03 as figure rac-rdc-1998-01. This figure can be found on BrickLink and is listed as lea005.
History
The RC Racer was the only minifigure released with a Radio Control set. The short lived RC theme ran from 1998 to 2001, with a brief return appearance in the mid 2000's.[2]
The precise hierarchy of the relationship of themes is not entirely clear, but for the purposes of this collection Radio Control will fall under the broader category of Racers which includes a number of longer running sub-themes.
Set 5600 | Radio Control Racer introduced an base element similar to the trains electric motor -- however, this element could drive wirelessly without the need for a track. This base allowed the builder to construct whatever sort of vehicle they could imagine, with the RC Racer minifigure included to drive.
The RC Racer has black eyebrows and wears a black helmet with opaque black visor. They are dressed in a zip-up leather jacket with a red undershirt, and black racing pants.
This figure was assembled with new elements from vintage sets by The Collector in 2021.
